Excavation continued in locus 2. A pick-pass was carried out over the entire trench, which was lowered approximately 5 cm. The two tree trunks in the southeast quadrant were removed. The sides of the locus were trimmed. Approximately 3

3. Locus 2 Approximately 43.9-E/55.6-S Approximately 25.45 m. above absolute elevation Iron slag
bowls of terracotta fragments were recovered. Twentyseven sherds of pottery were found. Three special finds were made. Locus 2 was closed, and co-ordinate depths were measured.
Closing co-ordinates of locus 2:
NW (42-E/53-S): 84 cm. below datum point = 25.61 m. above absolute elevation.
NE (46-E/53-S): 100 cm. below datum point = 25.45 m. above absolute elevation.
SE (46-E/57-S): 107 cm. below datum point = 25.38 m. above absolute elevation.
SW (42-E/57-S): 99 cm. below datum point = 25.46 m. above absolute elevation.
