A.M.
A pick pass was initiated in the southeast portion of the trench in order to search for the darker soil, which had begun to appear in the other portions of the trench. Soil was sorted into buckets. The amount of carbon in the soil noticeably increased. While sorting, a piece of bucchero with either scoring marks or a lotus palmette design was uncovered (Find #1).
Simultaneously, the north baulk wall continued to be trimmed and a creamware handle with a painted stripe was found (Find #2), as were pieces of a bucchero vessel with an X incised on it (Find #3), a few pieces of bronze, 2 pieces of a possible plate (Find #4), and what appears to be a piece of worked shell (Find #5).
P.M.
Soil continued to be sorted into buckets. Once all the dirt was sorted, the area was picked again, as much of the soil still remained mottled.
