Points and elevations taken for the small base found 7/1/13 because the base was found to be inscribed with a letter (A). Pick passes were done across the trench; no significant increase in terracotta or pottery. Upon 2 nd pick pass in the northern meter larger, finer pieces of pottery were uncovered along with special find #1 and #2

the northern meter has begun to generate a number of special finds. While the pieces might not be particularly well preserved they are varied and fit the assemblage found in the other CA trenches: slag, bronze, and bone. Vitrified terracotta and bone are now being sorted into latte boxes, instead of counting them as special finds, because we are uncovering so many samples. The soil remains clay-ish although the number of rocks has decreased.
