By triangulation off the exposed (only to a point where their dimensions could be discerned below the protective plastic laid down in 1987) column bases, the grid for T-26 was established. The east/wes meters encompass numbers 87-99 (west to east) and the north/south meters are C-L (north to south). The current grids include areas excavated in 1986-1987 (see A.C. V , A.C. VI , A.C. VII , A.C. VIII ), but as teh 1988 season goes on the area to the east will be added and excavated.

The fill area immediately adjacent to the two southern most balks left from the 1987 season were cleaned and cleared, to give some working room for the new excavations. This area yielded 1/2 cassetta of tile, scattered pieces of potery (including a piece of molded impasto, find 1) and plaster, a piece of worked bone (find 2), and a piece of (possible) ivory (find 3).

The cleanup work on the 1987 balks was completed, exposing the end of the protective plastic sheeting. The balks were shaved to show stratigraphy. Imbedded in the balk at G94 are several closely packed tile pieces.

A topsoil cut was started in H-L 97-99. There are large amounts of tile on the surface, which is densely packed earth. The cut was not completed before the end of the day, but produced a piece of worked bone (find #4), a cover tile fragment with finger mark (find #5), a possible slingstone, and several unusal pieces of tile. These last three unnumbered finds were brought to the magazino for reference and further research.
