P.M.

Both the tile concentration in meters D-E/71-72 and the rocks in meters J-L/68-71 were swept and cleaned to remove some of the erosional soil caused by the heavy rain on wednesday afternoon.

An additional 10cm cut was also taken in meters F/78-79, extending the depth of the trench in these meters to ca. 170cm.  The soil in the cut was medium to light brown in color and contained a great deal of plaster.  Moreover, unlike the meters previously excavated to the north, D-E/78-79, the soil in meters F/78-79 displayed no sign of turning to galestra.  One half of a cassetta of tile, including a few pithos fragments, and

one quarter of a cassetta of impasto sherds were discovered in meters F/78-79.
