The southern trench baulk situated along the mid-point of meters J-K/13 was cleaned down with mestalina and brush.  Clearing of the baulk revealed a soil change, limited thus far only to the southeastern quarter of meter K/17, from dark brown soil to galestra, occurring at a depth of ca. 90cm.  Elsewhere along the baulk the soil remained dark brown in color with many small roots.  One half of a box of impasto and coarseware, including many burned pieces, one quarter of a box of bone -- all mostly burned --, a single piece of slag and a few small pieces of tile were discovered during clearing.
