In order to fully expose the extent of locus 2 , we will continue to shovel and sort into wheelbarrows. The eastern third of the trench was picked and shoveled. Buckets were sorted into the wheelbarrow. Found a worked piece of chert (SF 1) and some fragments of vitrified terracotta (SF 2). The western third of the trench was picked and shoveled. The buckets were sorted into wheelbarrows. Terracotta and pottery was recovered. A pick pass was done in the middle third of the trench. While shoveling a worked piece of chert (SF #3), a larger worked piece of chert (SF #4) and a piece of slipped pottery (SF #5) were found. In this middle third more terracotta was recovered than on the eastern or western third. Part of one of the two remaining stumps was removed from the trench. The pick pass over the entire trench was revealed the olive clay-like soil of locus 2 . During this cleaning of the trench some larger pieces of terracotta were recovered, they were ~5-8 cm in length, they came up throughout the trench and in no particular

order. There were still many eroded pieces of tile and pottery.

Another pick pass was started in the eastern third of the trench. Soil was shoveled into buckets and sorted in the wheelbarrow. A piece of possible forno fragment was found while shoveling (SF #7). A pick pass was done in the western 3 rd of the trench, and the remaining stump was defined more. Soil was shoveled into buckets and sorted at the wheelbarrow. Terracotta and pottery is still being found. A possible statue fragment was found while shoveling (SF #8).

The northern stump, the stump in the western baulk wall, and the rocks along the eastern baulk were all defined. Soil was sorted into buckets and dumped. Another part of the limestone sheathed off while defining. Also a worn cavetto fragment was found while defining the rocks (SF #9).

The three remaining buckets of soil from the AM were sorted into the wheelbarrow and dumped. A pick pass was completed in the middle third of the trench. The soil remains the same, indicating we are still in locus 2 . There are patches of soil that are coming up in this pass near the southern baulk that are the same clay-like texture as locus 2 , but are slightly darker brown in color. Soil was shoveled into buckets and sorted into the wheelbarrow. Another light pick pass was picked over the last one to level the trench out. Terracotta and pottery fragments were found; slight higher amounts in the middle section of the trench in comparison with the passes in the eastern and western meters. The northern area of the trench containing the stumps were picked/ defined to level

this area.

Another pass was completed in the eastern meter of the trench. Soil was shoveled into buckets, sorted into the wheelbarrow and dumped. Soil appears to be the same clay-like texture, but small patches of a lighter brownish-yellow color were popping up in various spots. Terracotta and pottery were put into a bulk container to be sorted at the end of the day.

With the remaining time of the work day, the southern baulk wall was trimmed and the northern stumps were further defined.
