Daily Log
Today we took two photographs in T28 N. The first showed Locus 5 - the stones that may be the top of the retaining wall, and the second covered the who trench ( Loci 4 and 5 ). We then began the daily activities.
At the beginning of cleaning after the first pick-pass, we found a large oddly shapped piece of terra cotta. It appears to be a spout. Dr. Tuck corrected our understanding, explaining that it was a pan tile that had melted and become warped. A sintering test may be able to demonstrate the temperature of the fire that destroyed the building. This has been labelled as
. Shortly after finding the warped tile, and further west, a piece of bronze was found. While mostly without form, it does appear to have an eye - a small circular indentation. This has been called .The excavation of Locus 5 has shown that the stones are floating. It is still unclear how these stones would be related to the wall. The authors are divided as to the significance of the soil between the stones.
