AM

A final cut was made throughout meters gamma-epsilon/16-17.  The depths at the southern baulk, highest up the slope, approximate 60-65 cm.  Yellow soil is now found throughout these three meters: gamma, delta, epsilon.

Rocks found yesterday in gamma-delta/16 were cleaned around, photographed, and removed.  Most of these were yellow and the likely source of the galestra soil above them.  Meter 17, down the slope of the hill, is understandably less deep than meter 16.  Here soil remains brown.

At noon, the southwest corner of the cut in epsilon/16 was c. 55 cm and the northwest corner in epsilon/17 was c. 35 cm.  Very little tile or pottery was found.  Oddly, one

piece of glass was found in gamma/17.  This came out at roughly 40 cm, or possibly washed down from the baulk above.  No other glass showed up in this meter, which at noon was c. 60 cm below the eastern baulk.

CA-33 Extension

A new area east of J. Berkin's CA-33 was cleared of brush.  On the grid system for CA-33, we gridded out meters L-P/9-12. See p. 33 for diagram .

Topsoil was removed from L/9-12.  A few worn tile fragments were found, as well as a few pieces of pottery.  Of interest was a rocchetto found in L/12.  It is made of coarseware and badly worn.

M/10-12 had topsoil removed also.  One piece of slag was found.  Worn tile occasionally came up.
