Gamma-epsilon/16-17 were taken down to roughly 30-35 cm below surface.  Worn terracotta fragments were found - some burned.  A fragment of a possible coarseware strap handle was found along with a few other pieces of pottery.

A second cut to 40-45 cm was started in gamma/16-17.  Soil was increasingly yellow in color.  Delta-epsilon/16, meters along the southern baulk, had the same dark soil as in the higher strata.

The soil in the western end of the cut, delta-epsilon/16, appears to remain dark to much deeper levels than in the corner gamma/16.  Another cut to c. 60 cm confirms this.

At c. 40 cm in epsilon/16, in dark soil, a piece of slag was found  Yellow soil which has been reached elsewhere has not appeared here.  Gamma/16 at 60 cm has produce a concentratino of rocks.  Delta/16, too, has stones but, as mentioned, the soil here is brown.

Epsilon/16, although rich in dark brown soil, did not produce much of anything.  Besides the slag, a few pieces of carbon were found, but almost no tile.  Epsilon/17 was taken down to the level of Epsilon/16, but due to the hill slope is still only 30 cm below surface.
