A.M.
Cleaned up mess from last night s rainstorm. Many of the bone fragments were disturbed and table blown about - but all could be correctly sorted.
Box 7
- The tiny white fragment has been identified by E. Nielsen as shell. Bagged with enclosed label.
- Photographed by Chris. Overall shot and sectional details.
- Removed Bone 2 from the earth surface.
Box 4 Bone B
Lisa glued one piece and then assisted with cleaning edges in preparation for removal of bones from Box 7.
Taped labels to boxes for Tombs 6 and 7 to identify photos taken by Chris previously.
Removed Box 4 Bones B and C off work area to a box lined with foam rubber. Both bones have been treated with PVA emulsion and the remaining fragments do not seem to join at this point. They will be looked at again.

Box 1 Pelvis: had been treated in situ with PVA emulsion and needed to have the dirt removed.
- Wet surface with cotton swab alcohol
- With pin vice - gently remove dirt
Box 3 Bone 3
Cleaning out dirt from a bone which had been created earlier with PVA emulsion in situ.
Both Bone 3 (Box 3) and Pelvis (Box 1) had to be recoated with PVA emulsion left to dry.
Box 7 - quite fragile in certain areas. Continue to prepare for bone removal.
- Removed Bone 3. Brushed with PVA emulsion (15% by vol.) and left to dry.
- Bone 2 - brushed with PVA
- Bone 4 - removed from soil, treated with PVA emulsion, let dry --> opposite side. The second part of Bone 4 was worked on by Thelma - excavated from the earth and PVA brushed on in situ.
- Misc. bone fragments - cleaned with alcohol-water solution and brushed with PVA emulsion.
Plan of action regarding pelvic bone in Box 7: Prepare for PVA-gauze treatement
- Remove all loose pieces, then clean and PVA.
- Remove dirt, define edges of bone with dental pick, etc. Brush surface clean.
Box 1 Bone 2: Lisa found 2 tiny joins
Evening
Continued preparation for gauze treatment for Box 7: PVAed parts in place.
Removal of small bone-fragments and ? two digits of hand. Many rootlets and a large root system.
Removed:
- Misc. bones
- 2 digits
- Strange stone - underneath digits
- ? white
Noted: many stones
Figured out the orientation of the pelvis.
Brushed away dirt to try and see all fleane of bone on left side. Assisted by Thelma.
