A.M. - in magazzino

P.M.

tile - 4 frags

pottery 0

1.   Extended cut to c. 30 cm bs to M/64-65.  At border to M/N-64, a ridge pole fragment was lifted at c. 33 cm.  Subsequently to the east of said tile, a series of tile and unknown terracotta, potentially statue frags were discovered.  We are using trowels to remove the earth around them.

tile - 1 cassetta

pottery - 1 latte

2.   5 cm cut made in M-N/68.  Soil is as reported for O/68 ( NM II, pp. 143 ).  Finds of tile were mostly small, but less worn than previous cuts.  Pottery is mixed impasto, bucchero/oid and orange ware.  A distinct variance in soil can be noted in SW 1/4 of O/68, where a silty medium brown soil w/out plaster-tile inclusions is noted.  Relationships of this soil to that in O/67 near tile spread cannot be determined until O/67 is excavated.
