Work continued in Locus 2 . Handpicks and trowels were used to remove the remaining darker brown soil in the western and northern meters of the trench. A lighter yellowish, looser soil was found in the northern half of the locus, surrounding the very pale yellow soil of Locus 4. Soil was hand-sorted directly into buckets in the trench. Soil was completely sterile.

No work was done in Locus 4 . As yesterday, at the bottom of the locus, we were uncovering larger rocks and denser soil, which both resemble galestra, and as the locus was completely sterile, like galestra, it was decided to close the locus. Closing photos and elevations were taken.

After Locus 4 was closed, the remaining soil of Locus 2 was removed. New soils were exposed throughout the trench. In the eastern meters, south of Locus 3 , soil is darker brown and claylike. Just west of this area, running S roughly from the eastern edge of Locus 4 , is a cluster of medium and large sized rocks that extend across the southern meters of the trench. North of these, surrounding Locus 4 , soil is a paler yellowish brown and is relatively loose and sandy. In the NW corner there is a cluster of stones while Locus 3 remains unexcavated in the NE corner. The trench appears to be largely sterile. Because all Locus 2 soil was removed, Locus 2 was closed. Closing photos and elevations for Locus 2 were taken.

As the trench is outside of the potential building and is largely sterile, there seems to be little pertinent information that can be gained from further excavations in T-71. Therefore, excavations in T-71 will be halted. To this end, Locus 3 , the remaining open locus, was closed, even though it has never been excavated. Closing photos and elevations for Locus 3 were taken.
