1. Continuing to mesti around potential tile fall/dump in O-M/67-66. Orientation of this material is from the SE corner of L/71: 5 cm at 103 degrees W. of N. to southern edge and 4.6 m at 80 degrees W. of N. to edge as exposed at this time.
This has ben revised. Northern edge now extends close to baulk as exposed. Southern edge (as measured above from L/71) is at baulk of 1988 excavations.
2. 5 cm cut initiatd yesterday in M-O68 completed.

3. A 20 cm cut to ~ 50-55 cm b.s. was initiatd in O/64-65. Soil in this cut continues to subsurface soil - light brown with olive cust. Extended to N-M/64-65. Further ridge pole and acroterion fragments recovered from M/64-65. at approx 40 cm depth. Around these pieces, there is no change in soil to indicate a pit or other depositional information. Tile removed mostly is large fragments of pan tiles that are also from M/64-65. Pottery is mixed.

4. A 5 cm cut to approx 90-95 cm was started in O/68. A very mixed soil is observed. **Surrounding pithoi frags (which continue in thick concentration) is a medium-dark brown soil as described. Elsewhere pockets of very clayish medium green soil with shale-like texture is being found. *Silty medium-light brown soil is still found in SW corner of O/68 strike that. Further mesti work shows this soil is extending. It appears that at c. 85 cm in O/69 a soil change from the typical matrix take place. The soil underneath is as described above at * This soil has closest affinities with texture of soil above matrix of **. Major difference is that this lower soil is more red-brown where as subsurface soil has olive grey cast. Cut extended to N/68
Some of th pitho fragments have been removed. Under a fragment of the base was a layer of burn associated with the base - i.e. of the base. Immediately next to this burn was the medium green clayish soil. The pithoi frags thus sit in a soil that is predominately the medium-dark brown matrix but includes frequent pockets of this greenish-clay soil and also of the very red decomposed stone. It should also be noted that this two later soil and stone types are to be found as inclusions in the dominant matrix.
Pithos fragment removed ran in a straight line along very edge of line between 68-69.
Tile removed is mostly small and worn. Tile generally came out of the typical dark brown matrix not out the silty soil in SW part of O/68.
