AM

Work started with trowling and limited hand picking in the northern part of the trench, above a diagonal running roughly from the southeast to the northwest, which is heavily populated by medium sized to large rocks. Work is done to bring down the soil level around the rocks and defining the features of the rocks in this part of the trench. Some terracotta, pottery, bone, and slag is found in the process, but it is mainly along the southern extreme of the diagonal marking the apparent extent of the rocks. A pick pass is done of the southwestern half of the trench, south of the SE-NW diagonal across the trench. Pottery and slag is found, as well as bone and a very small amount of terracotta. A piece of vitrified terracotta (Special Find #1), a metal rivlet (Special Find #2), and an iron flake (Special Find #3) are found. A noticeable amount of charcoal is being found throughout this part of the trench, particularly south of the large, centeral rock. In addition, carbonized seeds are being found throughout this area of the trench, and will be counted as bulk find for Locus 2 .

A pick pass was done in the southwestern half of the trench. Carbonized seeds and charcoal continue to be found, as do consistent amounts of terracotta, pottery, bone, and slag. A fragment of ridged pottery (Special Find #4) was found. A small bronze leach fibula (Special Find #5) was also found. Triangulation off the known points of the trench is used to create points in order to extend the trench 1 meter to the west and 1 meter to the north.
