Digging from now on in Locus 2 soil only. Pick pass done in northeast corner and under stump to remove soil. Soil sorted and cleaned, soil type consistent with Locus 2 . Troweled through Locus 2 soil across center of trench to its extent to trench level. Soil sorted and cleaned. Soil delineation appearing, to be drawn when whole Locus 2 area troweled down. Medium amounts of material coming up. Northwestern two meters coming up yellow soil with no material, seems sterile (again, will be delineated in drawing).

Troweling continued across trench, still revealing yellow soil with no material. Northwest corner also troweled down to level it more—mostly rock and roots with no material. Remaining Locus 2 soil troweled through, sorted and cleaned. Some material found. All material found in Locus 2 soil today, none in yellow soil. Baulk walling done, no material found. Trench covered overnight with plastic.
