AM
began excavating locus 5today, even though locus 4 had not been fully removed. THe reason is to connect loci 3 and 7 directly over the spread and to deteermine whether it continues west . Locus 5 involves removing a large stone that covers the peak of magnetivity in the area. Once the stone was removed, the locus was then lowered to the depth of locus 7.

Continued determining the extent of the tile spread in loci 5 and. Loci 4 and 6 were also giver some attention to remove the stumps, though they still were not finished.

locus 4: 1/16 cassetta of worn bulk terracotta,19 sherds of pottery (18 impasto, 1r,1h, 1orange, 1r)
locus 5: 1/8 cassetta of bulk terracotta (worn) 11 sherds of pottery(1r, !b9
locus 6: 1 special find
locus 7: 1/16 cassetta of bulk terracotta (worn), 1 impasto base fragment, 1 special find; also a few fragments from the tile spread were loosened, so they were removed and added to the tile spread terracotta pile.
