Daily Log
July 19, 2001 Thursday
AM
Primary focus of today was to discern the extent of the tile spread across the trench. Continuing in locus 5 from yesterday, the trench was lowered to the depth of ether the tile spread or a hard, packed white soil that seems to be on which the tile spread rests. Also locus 6 was articulated and some of the stumps were removed. While excavating locus3, a rochetto, a sling sone and impasto handle were uncovered. These three items are in locus 8, which will be created tommorrow after photos have been taken.
PM
Continued defining tile spread. Meters 1 and 9 were not fully lowered to either the tile spread or the white soil, but so far the spread appears to thin out at meter 6, with the last few pieces trailing to the southwest.
