STRATEGY: 1. Excavate 1513 (beneath 1512) with big picks. Go down and look for architecture after completing excavation of 1512 (and planning f601). 2. Complete excavation of 1510.

SUMMARY: 1. Planned f601, took levels and removed. 2. Completed excavation of 1512. Had small find of a metal fragment sf40 under f601 (beneath ashy patch). Not sure if it's modern (brought in by an animal burrow) or ancient: awaiting conservation. Upon considering the section, there appears to be a grey area with defined edges and so there is the possibility that f601 are stones in the bottom of pit f603. There is a scatter of pot beneath the stones, this is to be excavated as 1515 tomorrow to see if this is the bottom of a pit. 3. Removed 10cm in 2 spits (underneath 1512) as 1513 with big picks. This included sf41 (possible worked bone). This is a fully developed soil with pot, bone and flint. 4. Removed a spit of 10cm with small picks (1514: lies beneath 1510) to make sure we get the last contamination of 1510 since I was unable to define the edges of the pit, which seems to be in the section.
