AM

No work done in morning as the trench was too wet after the previous day's rain.

PM

Work recommenced after lunch. It was decided to work in Locus 4 , starting at the previously exposed northern linear rock feature that marks the boundary between Loci 4 and 5 . Hand picks and trowels are used to lower the elevation of the locus app. 5cm in order to determine whether the rocks of the linear rock feature are stacked or not; if they are stacked, this would indicate a greater degree of intentionality. Soil is medium yellowish-brown and claylike and contains numerous small rocks, which will be defined using trowels. Soil is hand sorted directly into buckets in the trench, with 1 in 3 buckets dry sieved. A fair amount of ceramic and bone were recovered, especially in the central meters of the trench, just north of the rock line, although little tile was found. Additionally, an animal tooth fragment (Find #1), a bone plaque fragment (Find #2), a burnt bone fragment (Find #3), a fragment of diagnostic bone (Find #4), a possible figurine

fragment (Find #5), and a second diagnostic bone fragment (Find #6) were found, as well as another tooth (Find #7) and a piece of vitrified terracotta.
