tile - 1 1/3 cassetta
pottery - 2/3 latte
pithoi - 3 cassetta
1. Finished removing pithos concentration in O-N/65-66. Mestied area down to surrounding trench level c. 100-105 cm where concentration appears to end. Just below this level burn was noted in several spots. Soil continued as before: mottled with pockets of red, green-grey, and medium-dark brown. Pithos concentration does not appear to sit in burn.
Found within the pithos frags was a possible acroterion piece - cut-out and mixed in pithos.
Tile removed was mostly large, fairly clean-edged pieces of pan and some cover. Pottery mixed.
Left in situ where several rocks at southern edge of trench, and several pithos frags at northern baulk so as to define the spread.
2. Cleaned up for final photos, which were taken, one with meter stick indicating rock concentration that defined end of tile line in O-M/67-66 (see NM II, pps. 217-219 ) which where left in situ.
3. Back fill initiated. 30-40 cm of soil put down.
4. Section of L-M/64-71 drawn now that last of excavation for 1989 is finished.
P.M.
