STRATEGY: Clean and photograph fourth layer of flint scatter f254. Draw in preparation for removal.

SUMMARY: Fourth layer cleaned, photographed and planned. Some flints removed. Fourth layer appears smaller than the third both in terms of overall size and the size of individual flakes. Obsidian is still present in about the same quantity as in the third layer removed. Fewer vertically oriented flakes are present, suggesting that the scatter may be coming to an end.

STRATEGY: Continue removing lots 2012 and 2015.

SUMMARY: Removal of lot 2012 revealed an area of assorted stones and pebbles some of which appear to follow the line of f250 and thus may form part of it. Plaster is present amongst the stones. Removal of f227/f270 should clarify should clarify if the stones of the southern end of f250 are rubble/tumble or are a feature in their own right. Lot 2015 was removed until a level area ran between trench 446N, 596E and 451N, 596E.
