STRATEGY: Remove fourth layer of flint scatter f254.
SUMMARY: Flint scatter f254 totally removed. The final few flakes were collected according to their location within a 5cm grid (see plan). There are no obvious signs of a surface beneath the scatter, e.g., plaster floor, etc. Work commenced at the southern end of trench 446N, 596E to define the hard sloping surface discovered on 28 Jul by AK. Soil removed as lot 902. Surface given feature number 262.
