Continued a second 10 cm cut in locus 1 through N3-1W11-12 using big picks. Small area in N4-5,W13 containing small and medium size stones (3-10cm) was troweled to the same level in order to preserve the stones in situ in case they constitute a part of a feature. Numerous terracotta fragments were found in this area, but their concentration was not significantly higher than in other areas of locus 1.
The cut was not completed because the work was discontinued
due to rain.
Approximately 140 terracotta fragments, both pan tiles and cover tiles, and 38 pottery sherds were found. Pottery included a piece of bucchero, as well as impasto and coarse ware fragments, all showing signs of wear. Also a large tooth and a piece of bone were discovered.
The finds included two pieces of brown chert, iron nail with a square cap (possibly modern) and stone with small regular circular pattern (probably fragment of a fossil).
