The morning began by taking new measurements for the topographical/contour map due to a new system of measuring designed for contour maps. Thus, yesterday's measurements were disregarded. Between each picchetti, on the west and east baulks, measurements were taken at 10cm intervals to document the elevation of the sloping ground surface in the trench. ( ).
Another locus was identified today. We defined the possible road, located in the SW quadrant of the trench, as locus 2. The surface of this feature was cleaned to define the boundaries. Measurements from the south baulk (extending north) were taken at 10cm intervals and a graph of this feature's location was drawn. ( ).
A 10 cm cut was taken and completed in meters N4-6,W11-12, N5-6,W13-14. A possible feature may exist in meters N5-4,W14-13 because of the unusual grouping of larger stones, approximately 10-20 cm in width. Terracotta fragments were also present in this possible feature.
Approximately 165 tile fragments (9-10 cm in width) were recovered along with pottery fragments consisting of 1 sherd of bucchero, impasto, coarseware, and orangeware sherds. In addition to these, three pieces of bone were also recovered.
