1. 2nd 20 cm cut extended into M-N/66. Soil removed is medium brown subsurface. Cut terminates at switch to slightly lighter brown w/ olive cast. Tile is small pieces, worn and various.

2. 10 cm cut initiated in O/66-67. Extended to M-N/66-67. Soil varies across the excavated area. In E 1/2 O/66 and W 1/2 O/67 there was/is a burn stratum which is much like that identified in M-O/71-69 (see NM II, pps 29-35 ) in various areas the soil is medium dark brown w/ reddish cast and includes charcoal, plaster and pottery/tile fragments. A sit of bronze was also recovered. Elsewhere in 67/M-O the soil remained lighter brown with olive cast. M-N/66 was a darker brown w/ reddish cast but with no burnt material.
3. Continued cleaning down M-O/69. Soil surrounding tile/pithos scatter is a light brown/red.

4. 10 cm cut initiated M-O/71. Using pick to loosen soil as it is hard baked by sun. Only cleared a 15 cm wide strip down eastern flank of M-O/71. Soil is dark brown with flecks of plaster tile and pottery.
tile = 1/5 casseta
pottery = 1/3 latte

5. Starting cleaning down O/68 to level it with M-O/67-66. No real progress before noon break.

1. Continued to clean down M-O/68. Soil is a medium/light brown with olive tinge. Material recovered is very light - mostly small fragments of tile and misc. pottery. O/68 was dominated by the lens of decomposing shale as noted previously ( NM 11, pp. 21 ). Cut terminates c. 50 cm below surface. Unlike O/66-67, there is no evidence for burnt material. M/68 and N/68 provided most of the recovered material.
