A pick pass was done in the eastern meter of the trench, soil was sorted into buckets and dumped. A second pick pass was done in the same meter. Some larger (30cm long) rocks are beginning to appear. Very little tile is being found. 2 pick passes were done in the middle of the trench. Soil was sorted and dumped. 2 more pick passes were done in the western part of the trench. The soil is very clay like with many roots and some small rocks. Not many tiles are being found. Another series of pick passes were done through the trench moving east to west. More rocks are coming uncovered, some of these medium to large rocks were defined with a trowel. The soil continues to be clay like & dark grayish brown with occasional patches of tan clay soil & white root rot. Several roots from the stumps were removed with axes. The small ridge between T-57 and T-73 was removed & leveled. The soil around the stumps was loosened. While clearing soil a piece of worked chert was found (SF#1)

Due to the high presence of rocks from the morning, we will switch to using trowels and small picks to loosen soil. Soil was sorted and dumped, very little terra cotta is being found. Several roots were removed. Most of the rocks are in the eastern part of the trench. A yellowish brown soil is being found compacted in between the rocks.
