Work continued in trench 2C. Excavation in the south end, with trowels, produced a number of architectural fragments. In the north, more stone appeared, filling the entire northwest corner.

In the south end, a fragment of human head antefix (cf. p. 35, find # 8) was found at a depth of 1.15m, 0.75m from the west wall, and 3.75m from the south (Find # 7).

A section of lateral sima, with human head attachment in place was found at a depth of 0.78m in the west wall of the trench, 2.35m from the south end (Find # 8).

A fragment of procession frieze, lower right corner, was found at a depth of 0.95m in the west wall of the trench, 3.60m from the south end (Find # 9).

A section of horserace frieze, preserving the entire left side, and joining with one found in trench 2A (see p. 23-24, find # 31) was found at a depth of 0.90m in the west wall of the trench, 2.20m from the south (Find # 10).

The upper left corner of a "camp stool" frieze was found at a depth of 1.23m, 0.8m from the west wall, and 4.0m from the south (Find # 11).

At the end of the day, a section about 2m square, on the south end of the trench, in which many larger

stones appeared, was cleaned and swept to a depth of 0.50m. In the southeast corner of this section, adjoining trench 2B, terra galestra appeared at this depth.

The northern section of the trench, about 7.0m from the north, and the full width of the trench, also produced stones, more thickly concentrated, at a depth of not more than 0.70m.

The section between 2.0m from the south and 5.0m, in which the listed finds from this trench were made, was taken down to a greater depth, to bedrock. In excavating this section, some stones were removed. The finds were made, generally, below the level of the stone (between 0.80m

the stone in the rest of the trench is to be cleaned, photographed, and plotted, before possibly being taken up.
