Daily photos taken of Locus 18 and Locus 19 . Daily elevations taken of Locus 18 :

Work commenced in Locus 18 with the big pick axe. First pick pass focused on straightening the baulk walls to provide more space in which to work. Pick passes refocused on lowering the floor of the trench ( Locus 18 ) in order to identify any more coursing of stones associated with the circular feature. Soil remains a greyish brown color and consists of flakey deteriorating rock. Small hand pick used to define any additional stones associated with the circular feature. Pick passes continued across

Locus 18 . Deteriorating, flakey rock soil appears denser and more compact in the east closer to the circular feature. Small hand pick used to define the next course of stones in the circular feature. Pottery fragment recovered from amongst the stone coursing. Three new stones have been revealed in another course of the circular feature. Pick passes commenced across Locus 18 with large pick axe. Small hand axe used to define stones associated with the circular feature. Two new stones revealed below the previously revealed course. Work returned to pick passes across Locus 18 . Large pick axe used to straighten baulk walls again in order to have more room in which to work.

PM

Pick passing resumed in Locus 18 , the deteriorating rock soil which is mottled yellows, browns, greys, and reds. When the elevation of the trench was dropped about 10cm the coursing of the circular

feature was reinvestigated. Another stone course was found below the last visible course on the northern edge of the circular feature. Pick passing resumed in order to lower the trench elevation further and potentially reveal the vertical terminus of the feature. Soil remains consistent with Locus 18 and no artifacts have been recovered. Work ended for the day by rain before the goal of reaching the bottom of the feature could be achieved.

Daily Totals:
