Completed cut to approx 45-50 cm b.d. initiated yesterday afternoon. Soil in S13, E79-80 is uniform light-brown with slight olive cast. S12, E79-80 is dominated by series of large cobbles and smaller rocks, preventing complete excavation of those meters.
Finds included c. 1/2 doz. pieces of very worn tile and also one possible slag/vitrified tile.* Also recovered was one piece of a ceramic which may represent the scar for a base or handle. This soil is apparently barren of purposeful
*upon cleaning found to be simply burnt tile 6/30/91
deposition. Further excavation was initiated to complete a section profile that will demonstrate the barren soil. Finds were 3 tile frags and 2 pottery.

Final cuts were taken in both S10, E83-84 and S13, E79-80 in preparation for sections meant to show barren stratigraphy. No finds.
