Excavation began on T-70 using the big pick to loosen up soil which was then hand sorted.
T-70 is located on the western part of the hill, west from Piano del Tesoro. It is directly to the west of 2014 T-58, and directly north of 2014 T-69. Due to an error in survey calculations for the master grid in 2014, the southern 30 cm of T-70 overlaps with the northern 30cm of T-69, and this is lower than the remainder of T-70. This is also assisted by the natural slope of the hill, which sloped downwards towards the south. So, the rest of T-70 will be lowered to the same height as the T-69 overlap at which point the entirety of T-70 will be lowered as a whole.
T-70 was marked up using neon string, on the coordinates 88E-91E; 37S-40S. Within the trench there is a stump and large rock in the southern meter; points were taken to determine the precise location of these within the trench.

Excavation began in the northern section of the trench, using the big pick to loosen dirt, moving towards the southern section of the trench.

Excavation continued into the southern portion of T-70, exposing more roots around the stump. The final southern meter was not picked today, but will be tomorrow AM.
This initial area of excavation across T-709 was declared Locus 1 prior to the first pick pass, and points were taken.
