Work began by trimming the baulk walls in locus 3 and cleaning up the trench. There still appears to be very little material recovered from locus 3 except small worn fragments of tile. Since there is a yellowish light flaky soil, it was decided that the trench be exposed to that soil type across both locus 3 and 2 . It appears that the flaky light yellow soil remains in locus 3 and only in the northern area of the trench around the two big rocks.

Work continued scraping the bottom of the trench to uncover the flaky soil in the northern area near the northwest

corner, and the east half of the trench near the edge of locus 3 . However, the old southeastern corner of the trench continues to be the yellowish clay like soil as the rest of locus 2 . A few rocks have started to appear along the southern wall of the trench near the edge of the southern extent of the rocks.

The yellowish/flaky soil is beginning to appear as the southern half of the trench is scraped back. Roots were clipped, loose dirt was picked up and end of day elevations were taken.
