Work continued pulling the fill off the floor in all areas including the area covered with protective plastic at the end of T-26 to the east. Under here the floor while considerably wetter than areas without the plastic was quite well preserved. It did not show the damage done by roots that the other areas did, probably because it was more recently excavated but also perhaps due to the plastic. It certainly facilitated fill removal and in that sense helped the state of preservation. Small amounts of plaster, terracotta and ceramic were recovered from the fill which probably included some backwash. A small iron rolled point was found here (see finds).
P.M.
Work continued as during the morning basicllty lifting soil off all areas of the floor. Brush was cut for 2.5 hours by a workman to the northeat of T-26. Half-drums of plaster, dump pottery and odd things were moved farther north.
