Tile IIII 1/2
Pottery III
The tile layer continued to be cleaned down in meters GG,HH,II-9-11 with mestaline and lifted. A pick was then used and the soil + tile inspected. It does not appear that this tile layer contains any complete tiles or fragments of architectural decoration. The possbile pipeline ( pg. 245 ) continues to be uncovered. Meters HH-9,10,11 were almost completely taken to 80cm.
Note that the cover tile fragments appear to be concentrate in the northern end of HH-10 while pan tile fragments are concentrated at the southern end of this meter and in HH-11. GG-10 yield a number of cover tiles before work was slowed to methodically uncover the tile layer.
The 1.0m cut was extended through GG-9,10,11 and the same type soil as already mentioned was encounted with a carbonized layer at 1.0m. Pithos fragments were found at 1.0m. In this carbonized layer, bits of bronze (badly corroded) were found.
