This morning the tile concentration found yesterday ( see p. 121 ) in J/91-93 was further cleaned down and defined. The concentration appeared to be composed mostly of large pieces of bronken pantile, but also includes some pithos and covertile. In addition, a few pieces of burnt pottery (1/4 box) were also removed from lower levels of the tile concentation (ca. 50-60cm). Also, the redware conical foot discovered yesreday amidst the tile ( see p. 123 ) in meter J/92 was removed from the conventration. The base of the foot, which was foud lying in a burn layer, was charred and blackened. The foot was also discovered to preserve a complete profile in good condition. One quarter of a cassetta of small pieces of both tile and plaster (80% tile, 20% plaster) was removed from around the tile concentration.

The tile concentration in K/94 (see p 99) was also cleaned down and defined. The conventration was found to extend to

the south in meter L/94.

The soil around the tile, especially in L/94, was red in color and contained some carbon. None of the tiles, however, showed any signs of burning. One quarter cassetta of mixed tile and plaster (80% tile, 20% plaster), in worn condition, was removed from arounf the tile concentration. Only a few fragments of worn pottery were found.

The cut in K-O/94 was worked down to the floor level (ca. 40-45cm). The soil here was composed mostly of worn plaster and showed little signs of burn. Floor, in good condition, begain to be uncovered at the base of the cut. The floor, moreover, apeared to sweep upward in the southeast toward the column base in NO/94-95. One cassetta of mixes tile and plaster (60% tile, 40% plaster), in worn condition, was removed from teh cut One box of pottery of mixed fabric, including some fine greywere, was also discovered. P.M.

This afternoon the cut in MN/93-94 was worked at down to floor level to a depth of ca. 40-50cm. The soil in the cut was mostly composed of yellow, disintegrated plaster. In addition, small pockets of carbon and red burnt plaster were also discovered. Also in M/94 there was encountered a thin, black-burn layer lying directly over the floor.

A large amount of plaster (2 cassette), including many pieces preserving flat edges, were removed from the plaster soil. Only a few pieces of worn tile were discovered in the plaster. One quarter of a box of worn pottery was also recovered. A very small amount of material including some bronze and burnt pottery, was discovered in the black-burn layer. Floor, in good condition, though slightly burned in N/93, was uncovered at the base of the cut.
