AM
Work began with a pick pass beginning in the western part of the trench and moving east. In the northwest corner of the trench, a dark, purple, highly burnt soil began to appear. A second pick pass was made and at this time, a darker, clay-like, olive-green, slightly mottled soil began to appear throughout Locus 1 . It seems that the purple, burnt soil is limited only to the northwest corner and will not be declared as a new locus. At this time, the trench was scraped down using trowels in order to remove all of the Locus 1 reddish topsoil and fully expose the olive-green, claylike soil lying beneath it. In the eastern part of the trench, there was no reddish topsoil; instead, once the grass and roots (the humus layer) was removed, the soil was a loose, dark, gray soil and so this area will be declared a separate locus. Once the reddish topsoil was removed, Locus 1 was closed and Loci 2 and 3 were opened. Opening elevations and photos were taken.

The soil of Locus 2 is a dark olive brown color, clay-like, and is slightly mottled. The soil of Locus 3 is a loose, dark, gray-black soil. Locus 2 will be excavated before Locus 3 .
Locus 2 was opened and a pick pass was completed, beginning in the western edge of the trench. Soil was sorted directly into buckets and the floor was scraped using trowels.
PM
A pick pass was begun in the western part of the locus moving east. Soil remained olive-green and claylike and was sorted directly into buckets. During this pick pass, a possible fenestrated vessel fragment was uncovered (Find #1).
Another 2 pick passes were completed in Locus 2 . After these pick passes, the soil still was olive-green, clay-like, and slightly mottled and there was a mixture of ancient and modern materials. Furthermore, we seem to be coming down on a high concentration of tiles in the northwest corner of the trench.
