The remaining portion of the covertile in P 75 was removed.  It was lying in the burn layer with burn material, burnt tile, pottery and bone contained in the plaster and burn material inside and underneath.  both the surrounding red plaster and some of the plaster within the curve of the tile showed no evidence of black burn.  The black burn material has an almost oily consistency.  The covertile itself showed no evidence of burning and lay at a depth of approximately 1m.  The floor was solid right around the tile but appeared to disappear under and around the area of heavy burning under the tile.

Work continued cleaning down the tile in MN 177-82 and SW 170-73.

The cut begun in OP 76-77 was continued with hammers and mestiline when heavy amounts of tile and plaster were uncovered.  The plaster appeared both as red and yellow matter coloring the soil and as chunks.  This plaster and tile began as shallowly as 20cm. (with a "floor" level of around 80).  At about 40cm the tile and plaster become very heavy but much of the tile appears to be "floating."  At the corner of OP 77-78 a large pan tile fragment was visible just above the burn layer.  There may another tile beneath it.

Work continued in XYZ 73-74.  The material to the north of the column base appeared generally localized and to include tile, stones, some pottery fragments.

Moving south in XY 73 following the floor very little tile, plaster, or pottery was recovered.

Work continued in R-U clearing soil to around 70cm.  The soil remained consistently brown.  More tile and plaster chunks were recovered from there meters (60-61) than in 59-60.  Of the pottery recovered much of it was fineware including bucchero.  A few fragments were burned.  Very few pithos fragments were recovered but one showed burning.  One cassetta of tile included both tile, plaster chunks, and amorphous terracotta lumps.  Very few tiles were burned.

Work continued cleaning down the tiles in S-W 70-73 and the floor moving south in V-W 73-75.

The cut to the floor was begun in W-V 59-61 and an almost immediate soil change was evident.  A much greater concentration of plaster particularly in the area assumed to be right over the floor.  Much (1/2 cassetta) of this plaster came out in chunks and was spread througout W 59-61 with a lot found right at WX 59.  There was also a lot of disintegrated yellow and red plaster in the soil.  The soil was generally brown in color.  The tile pieces from this level were much better preserved as was the pottery than the upper levels.  Much of 1 box of pottery was fineware.  None of the tile appeared burned although burnt material (near floor in W 59) and small bits of slag and vitrified material were found.

In XY 74 a burn layer was re-encountered moving north toward W 74.  The floor dips here and this area appeared to be filled with burn.  teh small pieces of tile and plaster appeared unburnt.  1 box of pottery included bone, fineware, bucchero, and impasto.
