Introduction (1998 Season)

Having extended the master grid system to the area of Tesoro 26 this season, it was decided to excavate meters E186-188/S49-50, along with meters E186-188/S53-54 (See ), for three principal reasons.

Firstly, to create a stratigraphic section connection the workshop building with the southeast corner of the Archaic building, and paralleling similar sections in Tesoro 22 and Tesoro 25/Tesoro 21.

Secondly, to further investigate the enigmatic lines of tile, previously uncovered in the 1992 excavation of Tesoro 26 (See and ), which revealed a multitude of material. Lastly, to link material found in the area of the workshop building with material found in the area of the archaic building, as well as with the orientalizing structures located underneath the foundations of the Archaic building.
