Survey Conditions(include time spent on site) Poor, much grey dust on east, west much better
Collection Comments This looks like the best purely second millennium site that we have, should be restudied, sherds covered with salt crust, plain open bowls, cream-buff, straw tempered, bifide handled flask, smoothed lugged cooking pot
Collection Summary Sherd count Flint count
Obsidian count 1
Halaf note SC noted a few interesting painted pieces but said they don't look like the "real mcCoy" to him (SC 9-98) one more sherd found - LDS gave to SC (9/12/98)
Ubaid note supposed to have had 5 ubaid sherds on it but on 2nd look, 1998, SC pulled 5 poss pieces for CE to draw///(CE has it listed in her 12-02 diss revisions as positive attribution)
Middle Bronze Age note Trefoil pitcher, heavy undercut rim, some burnished, some painted.
Late Bronze Age note Painted and plain LB handled jug (this jug if it's dwg #150 - could be MB too lds 6-00)
Iron Age note none (LDS 9-98) /Only IA possibilities are not very secure at all (6-00) //But, it has a possible example of kindergarden ware on this site (IF IF IF my note in Kinet H comments in Bloknote refers to that sloppy red painted vessel - probably the one drawn by Freya whose dwg has disappeared. If so, it predates the mid 8th century IA cf Postaget and Hansen AS 1999:117 cf Tille Blaylock also). If this is so one wonders why nothing else IAish is noted for the site (7-00) The note of straw tempered wares might point to an EIA component I missed in 1998. //Veg tempered platter poss IA - but so generic as to be hard to depend on as a diag. (5-01)
