Description | Sediment sample 19.22 had an original volume of 25 litres, the date of collection was not noted. It derives from trench/area T26, locus 3. The sample was floated on the 20.7.2022. The light fraction showed a low abundance of charred plant remains, further details on its content can only be assessed in the future. The heavy fraction was sorted on the 25.7.2022. It was divided into a >6mm, >3mm, and >1mm fraction. Of the >6mm and >3mm fraction 100% were sorted, the >1mm fraction was subsampled and only 25% were sorted. Variety of arte- and geofacts was high. In the >6mm fraction mollusc shell, bone, pottery/terracotta/clay-based debris and slags were found and entirely recovered. In the >3mm fraction charcoal, mollusc shell, and hammerscale were recovered. The presence of pottery/terracotta/clay-based debris and bone was noted, but as fragments were non-diagnostic they were not recovered. Furthermore, a couple of grains were recovered. Furthermore, two barley grains were recovered. In the >1mm fraction charcoal, mollusc shell and hammerscale were recovered. The presence of pottery/terracotta/clay-based debris was noted, but as fragments were non-diagnostic they were not recovered. |
