Description | Sandstone wall of hewn and dressed stones, oriented north south and running between the north face of the East Cryptoporticus Wall and the south face of the Portico Wall. Perhaps a low wall that functioned to mark the east boundary of the Propylaeum area, or as a threshold or retaining wall for floor features in both the Paved Room on the east and the cryptoporticus junction, its lower courses are unexcavated, being obscured by the earth steps and hard-packed surface (Locus 20) of the west and the west curb (Locus 32) on the east. Later walls Loci 10 and 11 are founded on it. |
