Description The soil of Locus 8 extends over the entirety of the second north and western extensions of CA-82. A few stumps and living trees are still present within the confines of Locus 8. It is consistent with the soils of Loci 2, 4, and 5. It is of a dark brown color with a medium to fine consistency. There are smaller and medium rocks present as well as some roots. Like the other similar Loci, little terracotta is found, and primarily in smaller pieces. However, the amount of pottery and bone found in Locus 8 is significantly less than that found in the other loci with similar soil types and at a relatively similar level. Slag is also found. A piece of Medieval pottery is found in the initial layer of Locus 8 soil, but after the first pick pass, no other definitively non-ancient material is found.
