Description Locus 5 was a layer of dark brown-black carbon included clay soil that was uncovered under Locus 4. It measured 5m in length and narrowed from 2m in width at the west baulk to 1.04m at the east baulk. It sloped down to the southwest with the slope significantly increasing closer to the southwest corner. It was also heavily included with pottery and bone.
