Description Locus 7 is a sounding that ran along the eastern baulk wall of the trench, extending from the northern baulk wall and extending about 30cm into the northern extent of locus 3. Locus 7 is approximately 120cm wide. Locus 7’s dimensions continued into VT-11 and an identical sounding was dropped in VT-11, south of the wall feature, in order to create a seemingly singular sounding. The point of this sounding was to find the bottom of the fossa cut into the surrounding bedrock and fully see the size and scale of the wall. Locus 7 was also dug to give a clear visual representation of the slope of the fossa. Ancient materials continued to be found in abundance through the entirety of locus 7 until approximately 10cm above the bedrock floor. Terracotta tile, plaster, pottery and bone all remain consistent, but the charcoal flecks indicative of locus 5 see a steady decline as the depth of locus 7 increased.
