Description

Sediment sample T90-10-58 was collected in 2017 and had an original volume of 20 litres. It derives from trench/area T90, locus 10. The sample was floated in2018, details on its content can only be assessed in the future. The heavy fraction was likewise sorted in 2018. It was divided into a >6mm, >3mm, and >1mm fraction. Of the >6mm and >3mm fraction 100% were sorted, the >1mm fraction was subsampled and 25% of it were sorted. The variety of arte- and geofacts was high. In the >6mm fraction charcoal, bone, slags, and pottery/terracotta were recovered. In the >3mm fraction charcoal, bone, mollusc shell, hammerscale, and pottery/terracotta were recovered. In the >1mm fraction charcoal, mollusc shell, bone, hammerscale, and pottery/terracotta were recovered. Furthermore, it was noted that unusually large charcoals, bronze, diagnostic faunal bone, and glass were recovered. The slags and hammerscale samples were likewise described as unusual abundant.
