Description | Compare with left foot, 19670410; many of the general characteristics are the same. On this piece, the toe is almost on a line with the inside (left) edge of the foot, and the ridge from ankle to toe divides the upper surface into two very unequal parts. The curve of the outer (right) edge of the foot is quite pronounced. The underside is smooth and finished at the toes and around the sides, but there is a roughly rectangular portion, bounded by a ridge of clay, which is unfinished, and appears to have been fastened to another surface. On the outer (right) side of the foot, the finished portion ends in a ridge just in front of the ankle; the part behind this is unfinished and rough. |
Fabric Description | Coarse clay with bits of stone and mica fired to an orange on the exterior. |
