Description Locus 1 encompassed the entire trench. The soil in Locus 1 is a very dark brown, filled with roots, small rocks, and contains much organic material. It is a humus layer. There are two large stumps in the trench, one in the south-east and another in the north-west. There are medium sized rocks scattered throughout the trench. Very little tile (less than half a bowl of tile) and no pottery or bone was recovered. It was worn and pitted. Locus 1 sits immediately above Loci 2, 3, and 4. There was one catalogued find from Locus 1, a cavetto fragment from a frieze plaque: 20140004.
