Description Locus 1 is the topsoil of the trench. It extends throughout the trench. It consists of a very dark brown soil, with a large amount of humus and organic material. Some larger roots are present from the stump present in the north-east and south-east corners and the smaller stumps in southern meter of the trench. Some small (ca. 5cm) and medium (ca. 10-15cm) stones were included throughout the trench. Locus 1 rests on a lighter brown soil. Four sherds of pottery and about 1/4 bowl of tile were in Locus 1, along with one piece of bone.
