Description Locus 1 is a dark brown humus layer with organic material including leaves, grass, and roots. Several small rocks five to ten centimeters in size are included in the soil matrix. Three small stumps are present in the western meter of the trench, and a large stump is present in the western baulk wall. A modern bullet was found in this level. Small concentrations of terra cotta and pottery were found in this layer, but no bone. One piece of worked chert was found. What artifacts were found were fairly worn. The soil pack was loose and the locus was relatively shallow--approximately five centimeters deep.
