General remarks There are about 7 to 8 cobblestones visible in the North side of the trench appearing to cover something, unsure of its size and set the locus measurements at 1 meter by 1 meter against the North baulk. I think it may be a burial but little of the feature is contained within the 1 by 9 meters trench. May have to be specifically excavated. Will change locus measurements to reflect only the actual area of the feature. The cobblestones appear arranged in a specific pattern and there may be 3 different courses visible. Was thinking that these stones could be related to those in F14 as part of a wall. By third week there appears to be a relation with the cobblestones of locus 6 and these stones may have been at the end or corner of a wall.

Description remarks Stones appear to be in courses with at least a couple of courses visible. As we excavated it we realized that there were two courses with perhaps a third marked by a large rock. There was also mortar between the rocks and fill in between.
Has note Contexts excavated in trenches were recorded using the "locus system." A locus is any discrete three-dimensional entity excavated in a trench. The key to the locus system is the recognition that a locus is any one thing. Differences in soil composition or texture are therefore as important as, for example, the difference between a pit and a wall. If two entities were distinct, they were considered separate loci and were therefore assigned separate locus numbers. It should also be noted that every context excavated in a trench was given a locus number and thus the trench itself is made up completely of excavated loci.
